The Traditional Swim : The total length of the course is 1km.
Start time 06.45am and competitors should register at 06.00am.
The Traditional swim consists of two lengths of the Regatta course, starting by the Regatta finish and swimming upstream along the Bucks side of the river, round the buoy by the Bridge, and back downstream along the Berks side of the river.
The swim is interesting because it is an up and down stream event, offering different challenges to most other swims. The river at this time of year is at its very warmest usually arounf 20ºC with little flow.
In the interests of safety the swim is run under strict health and safety rules with ample canoeists support, bank spotters and a medical team. Every entrant will receive a numbered swim hat and their race timing. There is also endless coffee or tea and a bacon butty provided free at the finish to every entrant and a goodie bag and prizes for the winners. This year we have added a Team Challenge – find 4 swimmers (friends, colleagues, family) and compete as a team. The fastest three team members across the line win.
In addition to the Traditional swim, there is an Advanced swim of four lengths of the course (2km). The Advanced swim is due to start at 06.30am and again, competitors should register at 06.00am (enter using the Advanced form).
By entering the WSR Swim, you agree to abide by the Conditions of Entry and any associated terms and requirements therein.
